Update for June 2005

June 2005

As this newsletter is written for June, we know that you our supporters will not be receiving it until July. The month of June has been very busy and very fruitful. We have started the new school year. We continue to try to minister to the needs of the retired military community. Doctor Bantiles and the medical team of Bring Good News have continued to perform medical evangelistic clinics at churches, houses, and even inside the Talisay City Jail.

Our ministries working the Retired Military community has been blessed but continues to need your prayers.  For many months we have been working with one retiree family. Two weeks ago the niece of the retiree came forward and gave her life to Jesus. Please pray for her and pray for her family as they continue to live their life for Jesus. We also request your prayers and help in resolving problems with our healthcare. All military retirees and families are supposed to be covered by the military TRICARE insurance even if living overseas. For the last six months this has become a major nightmare. The company that previous served the needs of retirees is being investigated for possible fraudulent claims. This investigation has now gone on for more than six months and no guidance has been given to retirees urgently needing medical care. The retirees understand problems but they desperately need solutions. Please pray that this situation will be resolved.

Thank you again for your support and prayers. Please share our vision with your friends and neighbors. Help us to share the Love of Jesus throughout this entire area. More pictures and a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation of our work will soon be available. The financial condition of CPBC as we move forward needs your prayers. While we continue to look at wonderful properties where we think the school and church would prosper, limited funds have been received to allow us to go forward with any purchase or rental agreement. Please continue to pray for the Good Lord to give us guidance as we work for His Kingdom.

CPBC NOVEMBER 2004

WE GIVE THANKS!

As the second semester begins around the world especially in the United States people are celebrating Thanksgiving. We here in Cebu are giving thanks for the great blessings that continue to be bestowed upon us. Over the last few months we have gained further supporters and our students have received scholarships. We praise the Lord for our many supporters now literally around the world helping our students. Nearly all of our students now have supporters who pay for their entire tuition, room, and board. Now we pray and ask your prayers that the Lord will lead us to a new campus and provide funds required for the both the property and to provide our faculty with well deserved pay raises.

November 13th was a very special day for the students and staff of Central Philippine Bible College. We celebrated the third anniversary of the school by enjoying a wonderful picnic on the beach. While we all ate, swam, and had fun this day was really blessed when four young men and women gave their life to Jesus and were baptized. It was a special day for Nigel and Loida Pyle with Nigel baptizing their daughter Melody. It was also a special day for Dr. Titus and Dolly Bantiles. Not only did Titus have company with his friends and relatives joining our picnic but also their three children (Levi, Lee, and Leah) came forward and were baptized. Please pray for these young men and women as they learn from their faithful parents.

While most of the students were enjoying themselves we had two students travel to Tubigon, Bohol to help with the First Anniversary and Thanksgiving Service for the Tubigon Central Church of Christ held on November 14th. Being from Bohol, Alquin (Kent) Embradura and Dean Cimafranca enjoyed going back to their homes. They were accompanied by Jose Delepaz.

This month is not yet over. We still have many events happening with our students and staff of CPBC. Next week, we will be blessed to have Mr. Jonathon Nimrod visiting Cebu to meet with Dr. Titus Bantiles. Another free medical clinic is planned. Last month Titus and his family attended the Mindanao Christian Convention and had clinics in churches and in prisons. Please keep Titus and the medical team in your prayers as they travel and reach out to many.

As the Christmas Holiday approach, please continue to keep our students and staff in your prayers. Think about our students when you go shopping. For those churches and individuals who have adopted students consider adding them onto your gift list. A special financial gift to allow the students to travel home, or buy extra school materials would make the students rejoice. We ask also for gifts as we enhance our library. Presently we are without any encyclopedias and have limited computer access for student use. God is good all the time and all the time God is good. The Lord continues to bless our work as you, the CPBC family lift us up in prayer. Please continue to pray for us. Pray that we will find the right property for the school and for City Church. Pray for the City of Cebu.

God bless you as you serve the King of Kings!

CENTRAL PHILIPPINE BIBLE COLLEGE

OCTOBER, 2004

INCREASING OUR WISDOM

October 15th was the last day of our first semester. The second semester classes will begin in November. While most of our students went home and visited their families and friends, our staff continued their studies. On October 18, we had a great graduate level block course on Stewardship taught by former Bible College President Ricarte Magsipoc. Mr. Magsipoc with his Masters from Lincoln Christian College, challenged the students to practice and teach stewardship in the local churches. We realize that for the churches in this area to grow both in numbers and faith tithing must be practiced.

The following week we were blessed to sponsor a course on Advanced Theological Issues taught by Mr. Denny Edens. Mr. Edens is a professor at Philippine College of the Ministry in Baguio. He has his Masters from Emmanuel School of Religion and is working on his doctorate. All enjoyed his great teaching and we hope that in the future he will again visit us as we strive for excellence in education. Last year Dr. James Huckaba also from PCM blessed our students.

In the future we will be sponsoring more and more graduate classes here in Cebu. To be effective we know that we must help our teachers become more knowledgeable. Next year we are hoping to have professors from Bible colleges in the states come and visit. Preliminary discussions have been made with professors from Kentucky Christian College, Atlanta Christian College, and Florida Christian College. Additionally while we have sponsored classes many of our staff are finishing graduate degrees at the various colleges around Cebu. As CPBC strives for accreditation, this is mandatory. The initial application for government recognition has just been submitted. With having limited classroom and other facilities, we know that much work will still be needed but we have stepped out in faith. Pray that our accreditation process will go smoothly.

After spending a month in the states visiting friends, churches, and attending the National Missionary Convention, Nigel Pyle returned to Cebu. Nigel visited with many co-missionaries from throughout the world and with Bible College professors interested in helping our work. Nigel and Loida will soon join Joe & Andrea Randall as members of Team Expansion. We are truly excited about this partnership. Glen Gibson, the Training Coordinator for Team Expansion and former missionary to Cebu will be visiting us early next year. Also soon we will have Interns here to help us to evangelize this city. We are praying that more missionaries will come, not only to teach at the college but more importantly to help us reach out with the love of Jesus to the city of Cebu.

While this newsletter is somewhat short we want you to know what we are doing. We need you to keep us in your prayers. Here are specific prayer request for our work.
1. Pray for our students that are traveling during their semester breaks.
2. Pray for new property for CPBC and City Church of Christ. On Sundays, City Church is averaging 120 to 140 in attendance. We need a larger space.
3. Pray for our partnership with Team Expansion as we reach out to this huge city.
4. Pray for our financial situation. With the hurricanes of Florida some supporters have had major damages to both personal residences and to church buildings.
5. Pray for our families both here and abroad. The hardest part of being a missionary is being away from loved ones.
6. Pray for the leaders of our countries.
7. Pray for the city of Cebu.

THE FIELDS ARE RIPE FOR THE HARVEST. PRAY TO THE LORD OF THE HARVEST FOR MORE WORKERS.

God bless you as you serve the King of Kings!
